About Me: Jonathan Brant

I have been working with collage and assemblage for about 3 years now. It all got started at an art camp July 2011. I was born in 1998 and have always loved art. A lot of people think you have to be older to be considered a real artist but I've sold and shipped lots of my works across the U.S. and I also have an etsy. I would say I make more assemblage boxes than collages but I love both mediums. My main inspiration comes from Pinterest, YouTube, blogs (kollage kit) and other Internet sources. I love old/vintage ephemera and have about 200 books in my basement studio. I mainly make artist trading cards but do bigger scaled collage as well. I can't wait to see what comes out of this experience!

So excited,

    2. Hello Jonathan! I'm Angie Naron, creator of "With the Arrival of the Asian Fishing Cat, the Quiet Hamlet Was Disturbed". I am pleased you found the image and read how I created it (for the weekly themed blog The Kollage Kit) and now you are here and we are all happy!! Have FUN creating along with us.

  3. Hey, Jonathan, welcome! Since some of us are older than dirt we will be expecting great things from you, all slanted with the dewy patina of youth and some cultural references that some of us will not understand (macklemore? crumping? what??). Hope you enjoy playing in our scrappy little sandbox. Lynn (in Washington State)

  4. Hey Lynn, thanks! I may be young but I love old things, music(Motown) and I have an older mind, some say I am very mature for my age(circumstances in my life have caused me to have to be mature) I'll enjoy!

and I don't even know what crimping is and macklemore, please if you want to go to the thrift shop you have to get some good junk for collage and assemblage. That's what I do!

    1. ...and that's where you'll often find me, too. I always feel virtuous and slightly guilty when I "rescue" an old book from the junk pile and start planning how I'm going to slice it up...
