Dive In

We are having a heat wave in New Hampshire too, 93 degrees today... This is from the archives since collage work + fan going full blast is not a good combination!

  1. I love it Viv! Looks like she is heading towards pure refreshment. We too are ready for some refreshment in Chicago. Very very hot...near 100 degrees the past two days. Humid too. A storm just rolled through and dropped the temperature outside my studio window by 30 degrees!!

  2. Lovely stuff! Phew! We are just not used to the heat here in the UK. Temps in the 80's are very rare and we dont have air conditioning - no need for it most of the time! Archie has grabbed the only working fan. Thankfully our house has stone tiled floors downstairs so quite relatively cool but upstairs is a different matter!

  3. Delightful collage! Well, my car thermometor showed 102 yesterday, but it's really not that unusual for the DC area, this time of year. Sorry you guys are suffering so much! I take it you don't have central A/C in your houses. We do, and that makes all the difference. I have a house guest coming next week, or else I'd invite you to come visit. My advice is to head for the hills, quite literally: that's what we used to do when we lived in North Carolina and didn't have A/C—go to the mountains until the heat wave passes.

  4. Here's another trick we used in Texas—one that's handier than the mountains: soak a bandanna (a large hankerchief will do) in ice water, and tie it around your head. When it gets dry, repeat. I've also been known to sit at a table with my feet in a bucket of ice water.

  5. I love your collage Vivienne - reminds me of a real refreshing jump in the water!
I´m out off order because of heat in combination with bicycle tour - ok - it´s my own fault . but now I´m laying on the sofa and can´t do anything.
