Televisionism

  1. Aha! I can be slow, so it took me a while to see the story here. But now I get it: the dark-haired woman is taking the colors & shapes she sees on TV as inspiration for her painting, the canvas for which is at least two walls of the room. If someone came in and asked what kind of art she was making, she might flippantly reply, "Televisionism!" Well done, Michael. It all hangs together very well. And it's funny, too. =grin=

  2. Televisionism might also be an affliction, one that is causing this woman to accumulate weird objects. Gee, I like the way this collage has my brain rolling around on the question, "What is televisionism?" =smile=

  3. Thanks both. I guess I am subject to the influence of television over the years as it pervades our daily lives. Certainly lots of collages with televisions in thanks to the big thick book of old TV ads where this image came from.

  4. A big thick big book of old TV ads! Ahh, so that's your secret. Isn't it the case that those big thick books of miscellany have such an influence on the directions our collages take...
