WILDLIFE WONDERS -- Bucky builds a lodge for all his pond friends

 Beavers build their homes (lodges) on lakes, rivers, creeks and streams.

Beavers use their teeth to cut down trees and branches around the area and drag them to their building location. They chew on the wood to break it into smaller pieces and start making piles. Then they use their hands to squish mud between the logs.

 Up to nine beavers will live in the same lodge. Beavers use their homes as a place to rest, raise their young and for protection against predators.

Since the pandemic began, I have spent more time than ever riding my bicycle over to the local nature sanctuary, which includes a large man-made pond that is undergoing a multi-million dollar restoration. It was in desperate need of it. Although my beloved pond and the environment that surrounds it is a bit upset at the moment, I still get to observe critters and various local and migratory birds. I visit winter, spring, summer and fall. It has really helped my mental state through the last couple of years.

My sister had a toy called "Mister Machine" which was manufactured by The Ideal Toy Company in the 1960s.  I had NO idea that Mister Machine was influenced by MEGO MAN, a metal robot toy made in the 1950s.  I found a YouTube video of it!!
