Hopefully a few double takes in this collage…

DOUBLE TAKE: Despite their charm and energy, Joyce and Julie failed to make the cut as Doublemint Twins

The Wrigley Chewing Gum Doublemint Twins history:

Beginning in 1939 with stylized illustrations of twins, advertisements continued with print ads and later television commercials, featuring actual twins as spokespersons. The first set of women to portray the Doublemint Twins, were sisters Marie and Mildred Maier of Silverhill, Alabama.

P.S. I actually have some duplicates of some books I like to cut up, hence the two women posing as Joyce & Julie!

Theme: Double-Take (&/or Triple Take)

Collages in double and/or triple vision. Tempus Fugit, as September concludes, this is where I take my leave of "The Suggestor of the Themes", for the time being. Many thanks for all the great collages these past two months. Brilliant stuff! - Ron

OLD: "Aging Flower Child"

From the archives. One of my all-time favorite collages.

Theme: Old

Old is the new young what with senior citizens venturing into space and Indiana Jones recently adventuring.

Any collages based around “Old” - antiques, fashion, old timers, music etc… welcome.

Rabbit rabbit rabbit…

“ Oo you won’t stop talking..why don’t you give it a rest..you have more rabbit then Sainburys..why don’t you get it off your chest.”  Chas and Dave.

Slang, Jargon, Code Words: COLD CASE solved ! when the MISPER was found hiding in plain sight !!

I have a favorite book I use a lot in my collage work and that is where the architectural details and shadows are from. My good friend JUST sent me a 1989 copy of DETAILS magazine and I included a photograph by Marcus Leatherdale (1952-2022) that appeared in the magazine.

"MISPER" is my favorite slang used in the British crime shows we love to watch and "COLD CASE" counts for jargon. So this is a double-header!

Theme: Slang, Jargon & Code Words etc.

Collages inspired by a word or phrase from rhyming slang, secret codes, jargon etc…
or a brand new one of your own!

Free For All - Sketchbook Page 6th Sept. 2023.

A "daily doodle" will have to suffice for this weeks collage. A bit hot and humid in my work room! Phew!

Free for all.

I usually struggle with a free for all theme, but whilst clearing our friends house I collected this selection of ephemera from one box…so here it is….with added Dr Who monster.

Theme: Free for All.

Not had one of these for a while…so it’s off the leash into Collage Freedonia!

A mashup of DAYS -- DAYS of CAREFREE CHILDHOOD/DOG DAYS of SUMMER

Sirius is nicknamed the "Dog Star" because it is a part of the constellation "Canis Major" which is Latin for "the greater dog." The expression "dog days" refers to the period from July through August, traditionally the very hottest days of the year. The Romans referred to this period as "dies caniculares" or "days of the dog star," which was eventually translated as just "dog days."

My collage was initially the children cut from a primer with their dogs juxtaposed on a painting of a summer day. It then evolved into this!

Although the bright star pictured is not Sirius (I have a lot of books, but sometimes you just can't find the correct image) the star the child is pointing to is standing in for the "Dog Star".
