THEME: Bird Watching

The other day on my Instagram feed a lovely story appeared from the BBC Archives. In 1961 a visit was paid to Bird Cottage, Ditchling, Sussex owned by Ms. Len Howard who was an avid bird watcher and caretaker of flocks. She authored a book "Birds As Individuals" (1952) a comprehensive study of bird behavior, intelligence and personalities. I am definitely going to get a copy. I am an avid bird watcher and I feed them during the long winter months. I am always delighted to see a migratory bird among the usual characters on my garden deck rails.

  1. Nice theme! WE love looking at the birdies in the garden and Hazel is very generous with the fat balls and meal worms etc. Also we go to the country park to spot more varied range of feathery friends - like tree creepers, wagtails and magpies etc.

    1. Who doesn't love birds! Thanks Hazel for feeding our feathered friends. I have a small "Downy Woodpecker" (the smallest North American Woodpecker) who visits and he has his own suet cake hanging off my Japanese Lilac Tree.
