I remember listening to my transistor radio late at night, but listening to John Peel, DJ champion of the indie/obscure and alternative music scenes!
I would've loved to have heard the British Invasion bands as it all happened, must've been amazing to experience it, and then to hear the US bands' response to it all, too! :)Steve Spontanehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09573543622726159121noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8199504614954159097.post-43860541238068383152018-11-07T03:14:20.916-08:002018-11-07T03:14:20.916-08:00Great artwork Steve - love the border of Green Shi...Great artwork Steve - love the border of Green Shield stamps, they used to be everywhere at one point. It was so cute. I had it glued to my ear and listened to it on the way to school and at night I would put it under my pillow. :) Lots of good music back then...especially my beloved British Invasion Bands!!Collage Crafthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04317993562876380594noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8199504614954159097.post-32918512209644809472018-11-06T12:35:04.705-08:002018-11-06T12:35:04.705-08:00Ee, those paste-up accidents sound pretty nasty! Maybe when you'd started collaging you'd already learnt your lesson with all those knives, and stayed away from slanted tables...
The other injury Lucy described was a bone-spur on her shoulder due to her posture when bracing materials etc, which is why she got two assistants to do all the cutting-out now.
And yes, those are old-fashioned Green Shield stamps... you can still buy whole sheets of them on Ebay, and they remind me of my childhood, so I couldn't resist buying them.
Steve Spontanehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09573543622726159121noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8199504614954159097.post-73604823586336811542018-11-06T11:54:07.240-08:002018-11-06T11:54:07.240-08:00I like the (are those "trading" stamps?)...I like the (are those "trading" stamps?) border and the marbleized profile of Lucy. Nice composition, Steve.

By the way I used to work at key-line & paste-up back in the day -- putting together a neighborhood newspaper with paper strips of type that needed to be cut with an Exacto-Knife and then waxed (on reverse) and placed on the appropriate page. More than once my knife slipped and got me in the foot, actually my toe. Ouch indeed! Curiously, since I have been doing collage art that has not happened. Come to think of it I was working on a slanted table at the newspaper and I think the knife would occasionally roll off the surface and land on the floor (or my foot)!Collage Crafthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04317993562876380594noreply@blogger.com
