This is an interesting challenge, Lynn. I'm always hearing about collage artists who work by adding successive layers until they feel the piece is done, so I thought that would be fun to try for a change. I somehow ended up with two chairs and six black circles!
The bird is a South American species—a bare-throated bell bird, named for its bell-like cry. The plant is Australian—a green hooded orchid. The fish is an opah, a strange species that is nearly six feet (two meters) long: as it swims, it beats its long pectoral (side) fins like wings. The thing in the upper right is a front foot of a cane toad.
Being a minimalist at heart it's fun to think about creating such a work. And it's good work Fi. You met this week's challenge with layers of interesting & unexpected images.
ReplyDeleteI love the layers! what did you use to make the circles?
ReplyDeleteThanks! I used a Posca acrylic paint pen to make the circles.
DeleteAlso love the layering, Fi, and how you slipped a whole bunch of theme elements in here, great!
ReplyDeleteGreat artwork. Makes me think of echoes. The circles could be sound emanating from the lady in the T-shirt and the bird. And don't sit on that monster's chair!
ReplyDeleteYes, I agree! And the fish is flapping its fins as fast as it can, to escape from that crazy place... =grin=
DeleteI like the layers, too - and I agree with C.C.!
