Wow! This was F U N. So that is Lenore Kight Wingard (1911-2000). Known as "America's Premiere Mermaid", Lenore won medals in the 1932 and 1936 Olympics. I cut her out of a 1937 advertisement for Camel cigarettes! The bear is from a National Geographic book about wildlife. Those are paper roses purchased at a craft shop. The piece measures 12 x 12 inches and I have already framed it in a ready-made shadow box frame. (Which I just added to this post!)
I can see you had fun with this one Angie! Love the beautiful soft colors and the way you lined up the illustration, very nice story telling!
ReplyDeleteThanks Josephine. Can you believe she was advertising cigarettes? She did live to a pretty ripe age so I hope she didn't huff and puff on them too much (if she ever did!)
DeleteRoses are red. Roses are white. I don't want to meet that bear in a fight!
ReplyDeleteLOL Michael. Awww...he's pretty sweet thanks to his "rose" tail!

ReplyDeleteYes, that bear tail...he's a bit "special"!!
ReplyDeleteI think he's just a big old teddy bear at heart Lynn. LOL.
DeleteI do not know this lady - but nevertheless I love what you did with her: standing unfrightened on the back of a bear! Wow! I can imagine that a shodow box frame is absolutely fitting!
ReplyDeleteThanks Sabine! I just added a photo of the piece in the frame.
DeleteLove the framed piece Angie!
ReplyDeleteMerci Josephine!
