wacko shapes

Tools used: stencils. For each shape, I turned the paper upside-down and used a wide variety of stencils (alphanumeric, geometric, etc.)--the stencil images stuck to each other to create weird shapes.

  2. Very clever shapes Fi, and the complementary blue and orange colors with a touch of yellow are beautiful. I see these are all different papers, I love the patterns.

    1. Thanks for your kind words, Jo! Yes, I'll go ahead and anticipate this coming week's theme by explaining that I clip images from magazines & catalogs into rough shapes, then store them in about 25 large flat boxes in shelves in my studio. I have one set that are labeled things like "animals" or "earth/space" and another set that contain various colors of paper. For this collage I pulled the background piece, a painting of a wave, from my "blue" box and the rest from my "orange" box.

  3. I like this a lot! Sounds like we use the same kind of flat (plastic?) boxes. I described the kind of boxes I like to use with your most recent upload. They are transparent so I can see what is inside of them. Some of the boxes are labeled (specific kinds of elements) but most are just used to hold random pre-cut pieces.

    1. As it happens, I got my flat boxes from the Container Store: they're tough cardboard covered neatly with colored paper, with little metal windows for the labels. Clear plastic would be nice, too, but I didn't know a source for those. Perhaps I should use Google to see what's out there,

    2. Oops! Now I just saw your mention of Joann's and Michael's. It'll be a while before I can walk well enough to shop in brick-&-mortar stores, but we have those chains here as well. Thanks for the tip!
