SHOES -- Warhol elevated the art of advertising footwear
Before he was a global icon, Andy Warhol began his carer in 1950s New York City as a commercial artist and illustrator. His intricately drawn shoes for I. Miller were sometimes accompanied by playful hand-lettered captions.
Between his renderings of shoes and cats and cute chubby cherubs, Andy had a career ahead of him as an illustrator of children's books, for sure. And then..."BAM"! Or should I say "POP"!

Lovely homage to Andy and his shoes. I have some illustrations somewhere I snipped from some old 50's magazines featuring his early work.
