He recorded upwards of 1,000 songs that were listened to by millions in Britain and other English speaking countries, seeing further success in the United States.

Thanks Angie. Al’s such a great vocalist. I first heard him on the soundtrack to the 1970s BBC drama “Pennies from Heaven” about a sheet music salesman. It was later made into a Hollywood film starring Steve Martin.

I just watched Al sing "The Very Thought of You"... good singer and looker !! Oh my he did not live long.

Al was the first of the crooners. I have a CD of him somewhere . Collected a few dance band novelty songs back in the day. Nice cool collage!
