75 Years of the NHS: The use of hypnosis in medicine...

So, I Googled:

Is hypnosis medically recognized?

The answer:

Hypnosis isn't a stage act or some magical act. Clinical hypnosis is a type of medical therapy that's often used as part of a treatment plan that includes traditional medical approaches. Hypnosis can be an effective way to cope with stress and anxiety. In particular, it may ease stress and anxiety before a medical procedure or pain or cancer treatment side effects among other issues.

    1. Good thought. I now regularly see a podiatrist to take care of a particularly painful one myself.
