AI -- Magritte knew

I know what AI is, but this theme was really stumping me UNTIL I looked at some of the AI devices folks have in their home, and when I got a gander of The Amazon Echo Dot I thought, WAIT A MINUTE...Magritte in all his surrealistic mindfulness knew!!!

The mysterious spheres that appear in many of Magritte's paintings look suspiciously like the Echo Dot. Art historians call the orbs "grelots," bells that were tied around the necks of horses during Magritte's time. One striking painting by Magritte entitled "The Voice of Space" ("La Voix des airs") 1931 features multiple grelots floating in the sky.

The pieces I took from two Magritte works are "The Knowledge" 1961 featuring the music covered figure and doorway and a grelot from a painting entitled "Memory" 1948.

I set Magritte's pieces against the spectacular "Snow-Capped Himalaya" by Russian painter Wassili Werestschagin  (1842-1904).

Swiped from the internet:

In other poems and scriptures, the Himalaya has been symbolized as the sacred place of self-realization. It is a fact that sages, yogis, philosophers and spiritual seekers have searched for peace, solitude and serenity among the giant rocks of the mountains.

Artificial Intelligence

AI - Monsters From The AI

My efforts in AI from Dalle E. and Craiyon always turned out rather monstrous with distorted faces and horrible twisted hands with seven fingers etc. I know it was early days and the latest versions are somewhat better.

Theme: AI

Your take on Artificial Intelligence.

A hot topic, there’s a lot of it about and there’s going to be much more in the future we’re told….(but by whom?).

Utopian & dystopian collages welcome. :)

RED ALERT -- Mae West's Pet Monkeys Enjoy Her Namesake Sofa

The Mae West Lips Sofa is a surrealist sculpture in the form of a sofa by Salvador Dali. The light red, 110 cm × 183 cm × 81.5 cm (43 in × 72 in × 32 in) sized seating furniture made of polyurethane foam coated with a red polidur coating was shaped in 1972 after the lips of actress Mae West, whom Dalí apparently found fascinating.

P.S. Mae owned pet monkeys her whole life, with names like Boogie and Tricky. She reportedly doted on them like they were her babies.

Red Alert - Red Snails In The Sunset

I couldn't find any red snails so had to use this picture from a book about pinball machines. I've chopped a lot of it up in the past for various collages. This pile of slides seemed ripe for additions of some red kind! Some days you just have to go with the flow.

red-alert: Red is for Collages not just for Christmas!

A COLLAGE FROM ONE SMALL PUBLICATION -- in this case a Blast from the Past -- Modern Motoring and Travel March 1962

I don't even remember where/when I picked up this publication.

Lots of cars were featured (that is a SINGER VOGUE) and there was a terrific article about the new trend "Motor Hotels" or "Motels".

Theme: A Collage from One Small Publication.

Thanks to Michael & Hazel for the great themes of the last months. I’m looking forward to setting the challenges for August & September.

First one, this week is:

A collage created from and restricted to only 1 small publication. A sales catalog, flyer, community newsletter, instruction leaflet etc, etc... Include, if you can a reference image of publication before dissection!

Good luck, Ron.
