Quiet...............................Those Noisy Neighbours

One from the archives.

My noisy brain…QUIET!!!

My first reaction was, even when it is quiet in the room my brain is still bombarding me with thoughts..

I have crazy dreams EVERY night…..it never seems to shut up..

Luckily I am use to it now……I just distract it.

QUIET is the WORD in an Octopus's Garden

I have house guests this weekend into next week so I thought I would collage today!

AND these days "I'D LIKE TO BE UNDER THE SEA..."

By the way, the girl is from a painting by Fairfield Porter (1907-1975) entitled "The Screen Porch" 1964. I used another portion of the painting in a collage I made this past March for The Kollage Kit entitled "Happy Camper". This young lady has been sitting on my worktable looking for a place in one of my creations!

Theme: Quiet

It’s difficult to find a quiet place or moment these days with the omnipresent 24/7 media.

It could be collages featuring your quiet space, perhaps a favourite spot, real or imagined.

Repeat Repeat...................................Again Again

A page from my sketchbook.

Repeat Repeat.........................Stamp Sheet (Oh no not another one!)

Made from old colour supplement magazine page dredged up from Dave's huge magazine pile. I went through a few to find useful pages and clippings and this was one. Not sure of the date? Noughties? Michael Jackson was one of the people - mostly film stars - TV stars. Can to recognise any now they have been changed slightly? Repetition of some of the words and numbers.

I decided to repeat the idea of last weeks collage …warship, birds and animals…what’s that about?

Then I just repeated adding stickers….kept me amused….

To the MAX ... TOO MANY TEDDIES!

I GOOGLED "Teddy Bear Collectors" and read this:

The largest collection of teddy bears is 20,367 items and was achieved by Istvánné Arnóczki (Hungary) in Harsány, Hungary, on 27 April 2019.

As a child, Arnóczki grew up in poverty and never owned a teddy bear. Her dream was to have one that she could cuddle at night. She bought her first ever teddy bear in 1978, when she was in her twenties, and never stopped buying more!

Her personal collection, now made up of items she has purchased and received as donations, is stored in the Teddy Museum her local village in Hungary.

So, although I could not possibly fit that many in one collage, I like to think this is what one wall of her living area might have looked like before she housed the collection.

Seemingly endless reporting and analysis on the issues of the day...

"You're talking a lot, but you're not saying anything"...to quote Talking Heads.

Filled to the MAX

We live in a pretty full house..we both collect stuff..toys,books,material,more toys, tins,DVDs cassettes, records and of course plenty of art on the walls.

My sister collects a lot of ceramic things…so this is what I was thinking of when I did this collage.

Maximilian To The Max .......................................Personal Growth

I got the wrong end of the stick trying to figure this one out. My take on it was from largest to smallest - hence the rows of cabbage/heads! Doh! I will have another go soon.

What's That Sound ? ............................Ten Cool Cats

The sound of ten cool cool cats would be pretty alarming I reckon especially if they were fighting! Also a great song ( find it on You Tube ) by The Beatles and others. I forget who did the original version?

What's that Sound???

Music to my ears.
(Discovered Joni Mitchell in 1970, will never tire of listening to her.)

What’s that sound?

Albert hoped he would be able to hear the trees growing when he set up his hearing trumpets in the forest.

Instead the sound of the birds swearing at each other deafened him….”get off my branch you b*stard” he heard them screeching at each other…

(I am convince most bird song is territorial and they are basically saying..”get orf my land” 😁)

Theme: What's that Sound?

A favourite sound or reaction to sound in collage form.

Or...on the negative side - annoying noises welcome too!

YE OLDEN DAYS ...

Photograph (removed from a book published in 1972)
of 200-year-old Red Pines with fire scars created almost 100 years ago.

Women wearing the fashion of 1873 (correlating to the date of the fire scars).

Interesting how the fashions appear so dated yet nature remains the same to our eyes.

Ye Olden Days....................................Ye Old World Scratch

Ye Olden Days

When you get to the age when you realise your childhood years are now referred to as the Olden Days..But to me the Olden days are anything over 200 years ago!

Wednesday, 14 May 2025

Theme: Ye Olden Days.

Once upon a long ago - the good old days - days of yore.

Collages about some other time in the past.

Fare thee well. Ron

Theme: Laughter

We all like bit of laughter, now and again especially the way the world is these days.

So, collages which feature smiles, chuckles, jokes & slapstick…etc. Perhaps with a favourite comedian, film, sketch, song or routine.

A splendid time is guaranteed for all. :D

GIANT MONSTER of a BIRD!

A GIANT among BIRDS, the man-eating Purple Gallinule struck fear & awe in the hearts of all!

Even monsters need a holiday

I found an old Dr Who character…and sent him on holiday.

I imagine his souvenir would be the actual building and his beach snack would be a small child..monsters are still monsters even in their holiday hats.

Giant Monsters..........................Le Curse De Monstre Moggies!

The lighthouse keeper should never have kept that large crate of catnip that washed up on his rocks that day!

giant-monsters: Elvis fan from 20,000 fathoms.

Theme Of The Week.........................Giant Monsters

Our son Archie suggested this theme as he's in the land of giant monsters Japan at the moment and sees them depicted everywhere. Kaiju are "strange creatures" and include such well known monsters at Godzilla, Mothra and many others too numerous to mention. Make up a new monster or "strange creature". Have fun!
