THEME: Abstract to the Max -- Basically a "Free for All" using anything that might be hanging around your work space or junk mail...

Betty DEARLY LOVED her PET Vampire Bat Barney...

...and commissioned a portrait she proudly hung in the living room, baffling her two newest pets (Oriental shorthair cats) who seemed to resemble Barney in a curious way! (Look up the breed...those ears!!)

Mynah Mimic

I did want a Mynah Bird after seeing one on Children’s TV.

One of nature’s mimics, I thought it’d be good for some light-hearted banter.

Joey…long lost pet.

 By the time I was born my mom was sick of bigger pets…my older sister had owned a rabbit and a cat….by the time  I was born mom only agreed to a budgie and the cat and bunny were ancient history…I remember being baffled where they had gone and why couldn’t we go and get them back!

We had  over the years two budgies a green one and a blue/purple one..both called Joey, as mom insisted all budgies were called Joey?!…(despite my aunty having a budgie called Perky.)

Joey was lovely.❣️

PORTRAIT of a DEARLY LOVED PET

Haven't we all had a pet who we have outlived and think about fondly? OR does a beloved pet currently live with you?

Paint a portrait of that pet in collage form. Framed or unframed. In its habitat or an imagined one. Hanging in a museum or sitting on a table in a frame. You get the picture. 

P.S. If you are like my husband who, as a child, never had a pet, imagine one you would have loved to have and memorialize it with a portrait!

 This theme made me think of when I try to Hula Hoop in our house. Trying to exercise in a crowded house.

"Here Comes Summer" thanks to three artists who created paintings around the same era

I decided to try something I have always wanted to do. I found three paintings, all oil on canvas and all created around the same era. The background and figures definitely all go together!

Background: "Meadow in Bloom" ca. 1935 by Pierre Bonnard (French, 1867-1947)

*Women: "Dancing Girls on Carmel Beach" ca. 1930 by Arthur Frank Mathews (American, 1860-1945)

Girl & duck: "Feeding the Ducks" 1912 by Elmer Livingston MacRae (American, 1875-1953)

*The painting of the girls dancing on the beach is, of course, in color and is quite beautiful. But I only had an image of the painting in black & white.

 My first reaction was, even when it is quiet in the room my brain is still bombarding me with thoughts..

I have crazy dreams EVERY night…..it never seems to shut up..

Luckily I am use to it now……I just distract it.

 I have house guests this weekend into next week so I thought I would collage today!

By the way, the girl is from a painting by Fairfield Porter (1907-1975) entitled "The Screen Porch" 1964. I used another portion of the painting in a collage I made this past March for The Kollage Kit entitled "Happy Camper". This young lady has been sitting on my worktable looking for a place in one of my creations!

Made from old colour supplement magazine page dredged up from Dave's huge magazine pile. I went through a few to find useful pages and clippings and this was one. Not sure of the date? Noughties? Michael Jackson was one of the people - mostly film stars - TV stars. Can to recognise any now they have been changed slightly? Repetition of some of the words and numbers.

To the MAX ... TOO MANY TEDDIES!

 I GOOGLED "Teddy Bear Collectors" and read this:

The largest collection of teddy bears is 20,367 items and was achieved by Istvánné Arnóczki (Hungary) in Harsány, Hungary, on 27 April 2019.

As a child, Arnóczki grew up in poverty and never owned a teddy bear. Her dream was to have one that she could cuddle at night. She bought her first ever teddy bear in 1978, when she was in her twenties, and never stopped buying more!

Her personal collection, now made up of items she has purchased and received as donations, is stored in the Teddy Museum her local village in Hungary.

So, although I could not possibly fit that many in one collage, I like to think this is what one wall of her living area might have looked like before she housed the collection.

 We live in a pretty full house..we both collect stuff..toys,books,material,more toys,tins,DVDs cassettes,records and of course plenty of art on the walls.

My sister collects a lot of ceramic things…so this is what I was thinking of when I did this collage.

I got the wrong end of the stick trying to figure this one out. My take on it was from largest to smallest - hence the rows of cabbage/heads! Doh! I will have another go soon.
