MERZ (?) but all elements are FOUND

Found, that is, on my worktable and in my massive pre-cut images collection. Since we went on a holiday and I did not have time to collage once I got back I had nothing in my trash bin to rummage through BUT I do have quite a collection of pre-cutouts AND the background you see is from a lovely book I found that features graphic designs from countries such as Italy, Poland, Japan, etc. and I have been meaning to do something with it and it was sitting on my worktable.

Now my lady and a violin (goodness knows how long ago I cut those two out) have finally found a home!

Found collages from Michael’s old VINTAGE book

Three Four The Price Of Merz

My workroom floor has always been a good sauce (sic) of materials for any Schwitterings that I might be doing. Kurt was always a favourite of mine and happy doing a homage to the great man every chance I get. He was the DADA of all that is MERZ! The three examples of floor sweepings are all done in the space of an hour. The first being Hazel's idea of covering a peice of paper (in this case a flyer given away with some cider in Manchester yesterday ) in glue and pressing it directly ono the floor thus picking up clippings and fluff etc. I had to do this twice to create the desired density of grottage (is that a word?). The two framed expamples are more old fashioned - just putting papers in spaces they looked more at home in. You can decide if they are successful of not as I'm not sure!

Theme: Random/Merz Free-for-All

Not done one of these for a while. A fun one.

Any random, accidental left-over materials made

into new collage artworks welcome.

How about a Running Jump!

I am confessing I was unable to create a new collage this week. We are having so much repair work/installation of a new fireplace/etc. performed in our house by the time it would be time for me to play with my paper. scissors and glue all I wanted to do was collapse. So here is one from the archives that I actually created for The Kollage Kit 14 years ago!

Running up a new dress

Now my thinking changed during the making of this  collage.

I was thinking of running the flag up the flag pole and gave the Queen a broom stick to wave the United Nations flag…I was sat at my sewing table and realised we also ran up a garment…made of flags.💡

So that was my weird journey and that’s my excuse 😅.

Running Or Jumping.......................Running and Slurping

Head for the high jump or do a park run...

Either way, all collages welcome -

Horses For Courses.................................The Escaped Horse Escapade

On a bit of a roll with this theme. I cut a few horses out for "The Year Of The Horse" and wondered what to do with them all. So many ended up here!

HorsesFor Courses.................................Horse Racing Game

There wasa border on this but the sscanner took a dislike to it so had to leave it off! Probably just as well.

Horses For Courses..............................Sea Horse Race

This is the back cover of the one I did before called Horse Fun Annual. It seemed a shame to waste this so added a few sea horses I found in an old childrens encyclopedia. I added some inky lines too.

HORSES for COURSES -- One of a different color

It is speculated that the phrase comes from horse-trading. When horses are sold, their registration of birth also changes hands. As some horses change colour from youth to adulthood, however, the registration may not match the actual animal, causing confusion and accusations of foul play.

The expression, like so many in the English language, was popularised by William Shakespeare. In Twelfth Night, the scheming Maria utters “horse of that colour”, meaning ‘the same thing’. Over the centuries, and definitely by the mid-1800s according to records, the use of the phrase reversed.

SPACE -- Cheese Storm on the Moon

I've made many collages with an outer space theme, but this one is probably my favorite, from the archives. I will get busy and get out those astronomy books this weekend.

Busy in Space.

With Musk, Bezos, NASA , India and others all sending up space ships Willy nilly…it looks like space is getting rather overcrowded.

Theme Of The Week.................................Space (The Final Frontier)

To celebrate the return of the Artemis crew from their historic moon mission and for sci-fi fans . Anything to do with UFO's , rockets, space travel etc. Have fun!

Theme Of The Week...........................Oversized and Undersized

This theme came about when Hazel opened her Miriam Margoyles book "The Little Book Of Miriam" and saw a drawing of a large pair of pants (knickers) on a washing line! Have fun!
