Abstract.............................................AS
Wednesday, 5 August 2026
THEME: Abstract
Jackson Pollock described abstract art as “energy and motion made visible.” He described how the art form set free a part of his psyche that previously had no voice. Artists were no longer expected to faithfully represent what they saw in the world around them. Instead, abstract art gave them licence to create art by prioritising instinct or the unconscious.
Have fun!

CREATE A SELF PORTRAIT in COLLAGE
Totally inspired by Hannah Hoch (1889-1978) I first wanted to find a piece of art that had the shape of my face to collage on. And this background was perfect (however, I rotated the grey egg shape from horizontal to vertical and trimmed a lot of the artwork to make it look like my head is on a curvy pedestal).
The artwork I found is by John Graham(1881-1961) entitled "Nature Morte" 1929-30:

“Smooshed together”
So I used a very chopped up book of film stars and “smooshed” some of the bits together to try and create my beautiful alter ego…
It looks nothing like me…sorry..

A LOVELY PICNIC and a Change of Scene
After years of appearing in the dark woods of "The Luncheon on the Grass" 1863 by Edouard Manet, I thought I would give this crew a new locale (and a couple of new things to eat).
So here they are in "The Roseland Riviera" of Trelissick, Cornwall!
