Big in Japan
I think this qualifies. What if Elvis had a mutant brother/doppleganger that could sing and perform just as well, but had to seek some different audiences?
Side note: this was made for friend and collagist Marty Gordon. Happy Birthday Marty!
Thanks! I think the bottom border patterns are blood capillaries behind the eyeballs, from an old 60's ilustration. I did NOT know that Elvis had a twin. Wow! Creepy....
Also Marty, The Elvis figure is from a birthday card I recieved years ago. I've never re-porposed a birthday card before this one(and gave it as a birthday gift) :)
As a matter of fact Elvis had a twin brother Jesse Garon Presley who died at birth. This, perhaps, is Jesse performing in a parallel dimension.
ReplyDeleteAnd Happy Birthday Marty!
Gorgeous colors—I love the audience! What's the border across the bottom? it looks like something organic, maybe microscopic...

DeleteSilly and twisted! I love it!
ReplyDeleteThanks again, Tim! Love it! I totally thought about the whole Elvis having a twin thing. Did a piece about it years ago.
ReplyDeleteWe're having a blue birthday without you, Marty, and great piece, Cloud!

ReplyDeleteTim, did you know that that same background was used in one of our journals?
