Homage To Richard Hamilton
I had already plundered this copy of Richard Hamilton's classic collage "Just What......" and had a few bits left over which I found again and used for this version.
Witty and fun! I like your changing the Tootsie Pop into British-style cakes. I have to say this: I have a book on pop art with a supposedly learned discussion of this Hamilton collage, in which the author says that the man is holding "a tennis racket," on the cover of which Hamilton has put the word "Pop." No, no...=arrggh= that's a super-sized Tootsie Pop, a soft chocolate center with a hard candy shell around it, roughly spherical, on the end of a stick! The packaging actually says "Pop" on it. =shaking her head=
Looks like a W-touched Hamilton! Fabulous!

ReplyDeleteSomeone had to do it and you did it so well.
ReplyDeleteMichael, thanks for this string of "homage" challenges. It has been great fun. And I also discovered and/or learned about an artist or two!
Thanks all. Yes, feel free to suggest a collage artist , or any artist for that matter, to pay homage to next week.
ReplyDeleteSuch a wonderfully demented living room...essence of RH and his moddddddern life, indeed!
