Van Gogh Among the Mule Deer

Van Gogh was rejected by women with whom he became enamored and ultimately turned to prostitutes for companionship.

The swell painting of Mule Deer (called such because of their extra large ears)  in the Rocky Mountains is courtesy of an old National Geographic book on wildlife.

  1. Gosh, I love the frame, the way it separates the two people—and the switcheroo where you have female deer on Vincent's side and a male deer on the blonde's side adds nicely to the sense of disturbed sexual identity!

  2. Is this a frame or are these two collages on a wooden background? However - it looks framed and that´s what I like because I´ve got the feeling as if I´m looking through a window! I agree with Fi: A clever mix of genders!

  3. Excellent work. I'm often told I have Van Gogh's ear for music!

  4. Well, at least he had the mule deer to "turn to" (she said, arching one eyebrow suggestively...). Fun piece, CC.
