My husband Bob, who has a PhD. in botany, says the tree is a laurel oak, and based on the vegetation growing on it, places its location as in or close to the panhandle of Florida.

They really all do seem mesmerized by the laurel oak. I do hope these survived blasted hurricane Irma. I just heard that another, Hurricane Maria, is ready to wreak havoc on more of the islands in the Caribbean.
