NEW -- JANUARY 1st TRADITION: THE POLAR BEAR PLUNGE

A polar bear plunge is an event held during the winter where participants enter a body of water despite the low temperature. In the United States, polar bear plunges are usually held to raise money for a charitable organization. In Canada, polar bear swims are usually held on New Year's Day to celebrate the new year.

  1. Brrrrr! Lovely brass monkeys more like! Similar insanity over here when they rush out to break the ice on the Serpentine in Hyde Park and all dive in on Xmas day! Madness!

    1. Ah ha, never knew about the Serpentine tradition. I know I'm not in, I simply cannot swim!! (Almost drowned as a child. Fear of open water since then!)

Slippin' and a-Slidin' into 2021. It's been weather for polar bears here. I've perfected my penguin waddle to the local shops.

    1. Ha ha. Love it. (And that's how one has to venture when snow & ice builds up on our midwestern sidewalks!)
