What’s old is new again

We complain about the pot holes in the roads at the  moment in the UK..but having heard about a man called Ludvik Petursson in Grindavik, Iceland, who tragically fell down a huge crack in the earth when they were trying to fill in a massive fissure in the road  made me see road menders in a very different light.

The news of his demise really shocked me…how can anyone fall into the earth and not be found!?

Thank you to the men who make our lumpy old roads new and flat again…especially in Iceland.🇮🇸

  1. A tragic tale indeed and the moral being - do not jump up and down on massive fissures in the earth. Your collage neatly fills in the story and a good homage to a under appreciated worker.

  2. Hazel, I heard about this poor soul and I agree with Michael's comment about this being a good homage to the brave men and women who perform tasks that make our lives easier and face tragedy in doing so. (I am now thinking about a man who was killed by a driver on a main thoroughfare called "Lake Shore Drive" in Chicago. The entire length was being resurfaced and one night a negligent driver picked him off and fled -- "hit and run". TERRIBLE.)
