mail order mania
This collage—at 11" x 16", the largest I've ever made—is about shopping by mail. Almost all the images on display came from catalogs I've gotten, selling everything from art prints to jewelry to glass objects to fake artifacts to baby blankets. Even Robert E. Lee on top and the galaxy in the lower right were hawking DVDs for courses on history and astronomy. And the bald rat was for sale through a laboratory supply catalog.
Background constructed from discarded books and newspapers, plus an old report card. Black arrows made from the Taschen book, Magic. With rubber stamps of star and spiral.

Wow Fi! Good choice of a way to shop with a great title and brilliant execution! Everything from soup to nuts and eveb A BALD RAT!
ReplyDeleteThat should read "even A BALD RAT!"
ReplyDeleteLots to see here - conjures up my ebay experience perfectly!
ReplyDeleteA great collection here, I love the rat and the toes!
ReplyDeleteThanks, y'all! The toes came from a shoe catalog.
ReplyDeleteBy the way, the one object on sale here that I really coveted is that telephone entirely covered in beads.
ReplyDeleteA really RICH collage, Fi, just spent a couple minutes studying it, and I think I'll need a couple more!
ReplyDeleteI agree with CC (this rat is really bizarre) and W. (reminds me on ebayish-shopping) and P. (so much things to study).
