Found my box of postcards that included some with reproduced VOGUE covers. The model (covering Jean Shrimpton's lovely face on that issue of VOGUE) is "Baby Viola", who was a side-show circus performer in the Hagenback-Wallace Circus. Photo is circa 1920s.
Haha, this is so funny Angie ;))
ReplyDeleteThis immediately reminds me of Monthy Python's 'Sit on my face' song ;

So you are a lucky fellow, Angie, with all you all vogue covers! ;-)
ReplyDeleteIsn´t it sad that overweighted humans once were a "circus act", like little persons, physically disabled and so on?! So good that those days are over!
