Moments Before the Official Portrait
Queen Victoria and her close family kept numerous pet animals. I have included Lory, a parrot, Dash, a King Charles Spaniel, Hector, a Deerhound, Islay, a Skye Terrier, and her beloved Turi, a Pomeranian who lay on her deathbed at her request.
'Love the colors! Speaking of colors, did you know that when the color mauve was invented by a 19th century chemistry student playing around with coal tar, and then became a vogue, that Queen Victoria gave it official approval by wearing a mauve dress to an important wedding? Highly recommended: Mauve: How One Man Invented a Color That Changed the World by Simon Garfield.
There is of course lots of room on a royal estate for all these animals!
ReplyDeleteWatch the Birdie Vicky! Nice work Angie.
