I had formulated something along these lines the moment I read your theme, but when going through my book of vintage clocks I fixated on this model and then looked through insect books to find the right representatives of the fly population...common housefly and the larger horsefly!
You crack me up! And yes, we are over a flight pattern and it is nice to be out in the garden without looking up at the belly of a jet (we are 13 miles away from O'Hare Airport, so they are not that low in the sky, but they are noisy)!
