RIDDLE TIME: Why did the emu cross the road?

 It was hungry.

(Emus eat a wide variety of leaves, grasses, fruits, native plants, and insects. In spring and summer, their diet consists mainly of flowers and seeds.)

P.S. From the archives, I promise to work on another this week!

  1. Not really a riddle but a very nice collage all the same! I guess you could have said "What's got two legs, a beak and his beady eye on Michael Parkinson?"

    1. "Why did the chicken cross the road?" is a common riddle joke with the answer being, "To get to the other side." It is commonly seen as an example of anti-humor, in that the curious setup of the joke leads the listener to expect a traditional punchline, but they are instead given a simple statement of fact. The joke has become iconic as an exemplary generic joke to which most people know the answer, and has been repeated and changed numerous times over the course of history.

    2. I also read this "riddle joke" was first published in 1847 in a New York monthly magazine "The Knickerbocker".
