the fifth dimension is closer than you think
Sorry I was MIA for a while: medical issues, no big deal.
The upper background is from a Time magazine photo of an electrical storm over the Grand Canyon. The man in the dog mask is from the Archie McPhee catalog. The lower background is from a painting by Gordon Onslow Ford. The creature is a late Jurassic marine reptile called a Dakosaurus.
The colorful strip in between is from a computer model of superstrings. Superstring theory holds that our universe has many more dimensions than meet the eye—dimensions tightly curled into the folded fabric of the cosmos.

ReplyDeleteHi Fi! Just the other day I said to myself "hmmmm, where's Fiona?" Glad to see you back. And back with an informative fun piece. I like knowing about the 'superstring theory'.

ReplyDeleteThanks so much, y'all! I'm feeling fine—just had a bunch of annoying tests, that's all...
ReplyDeleteThis is such a fun piece Fi! I join in on the chorus of hope your feeling ok and that the tests weren't for anything serious!
