Marvellous art Angie. I googled the poodles - Gert & Alice's pets were very well-loved.
ReplyDeleteThey certainly were well-loved. I was lucky enough to see an exhibition, in San Francisco, several years ago. It featured artwork and clothing owned by Gertrude and Alice. The one piece that really got me was a 3-dimensional shadowbox, created by Picasso, of one of the poodles. I didn't feel like buying the exhibition catalog at the time and I wasn't allowed to take a photo of the piece. But finally tracked down an image of this artwork. I think I might have featured it on my Instagram feed at some point. If I did, I will link you to it!
