ReplyDeleteHodges came up with the line "You've got more rabbit than Sainsbury's", which according Hodges was a common local saying dating to the Second World War when meat was scarce, and rabbits were often sold by butchers with heads and tails still on so that people knew they were not buying a cat.
Ha ha! More excellent research! You'll soon be rabbiting away with all the cockney geezers when you are next in London!
