Last year I made an accordion-style artist's book called "16 Ways of Looking At a Blackbird" (with apologies to Wallace Stevens for title theft...) that paired collage and poetry. Each collage picture included the image of a bird and I wrote a haiku for each picture. Across the tops of the pages I cut a "scrolling" scene of birds, reeds, grasses, etc. Here's the poem for the picture you see above:
Milady looks through
and sees the absence
of love.
It’s the price she
pays.
Lovely stuff! We want to see more!
ReplyDeletegorgeous! The scrolling scene is amazing!
ReplyDeleteIt's beautiful, especially the scrolling! I admire your cutting skills.
ReplyDeleteThanks, all!
ReplyDeleteVery impressive—I bet Mr. Stevens would applaud!
ReplyDeleteIt´s really amazing! I would like to see the whole book now! Which size is it?
ReplyDeleteIt's about 7.5" x 9.5", and it opens up to about 50" when extended. I put a few more photos on my website, if you're interested, at http://regularpaper.blogspot.com/2013/01/16-ways-of-looking-at-blackbird.html. Thanks for all the compliments!
