Long before being "green" was fashionable, Keep America Beautiful formed
in 1953 when a group of corporate and civic leaders met in New York
City to discuss a revolutionary idea — bringing the public and private
sectors together to develop and promote a national cleanliness ethic.
By the way, I found a 1959 LIFE magazine this morning while I was busy "decluttering" a section of our basement. The Ford Fairlane Galaxie was featured in an advertisement, hence this collage!

I really do not like those litterbugs either! But I do like your collage!
ReplyDeleteLovely litter stuff - one mans( womans) trash is another's treasure they say!
ReplyDeleteI didn't know the meaning of the word 'litterbug' (love the word!). I'm glad you decluttered that part of your basement for this lovely collage!
ReplyDeleteGreat colour palette.
ReplyDeleteAlso, reminds me of a scene in Mad Men when Don takes his family on a picnic and they leave all their litter behind.
Great back story, CC...what a great find! It makes a lovely and pointed collage. I guess in the 50's we just thought Somebody Else would clean up after us!
