A Storm is Due

  1. Lovely subtle colours. Reminds me of the solvent prints Eric Finlay used to do. He was very secretive about his methods.

  2. Wow—this is a fabulous abstract piece, Ron. I like the colors, the way the blue storm clouds are gathering over the warm hues of the day. I like the split in the middle, how it suggests that something is about to break open. And the title is perfect, the way it facilitates those perceptions. I have trouble with coming up with titles for my abstract pieces, so I'm learning from your facility in that area. How big is this collage? I'm curious because while it would work at any size, it would be especially powerful if it were very large.

    1. P.S. At least I'm having fun *imagining* it as very large!

  3. Thanks Michael, I hadn't heard of Eric Finlay. I had a quick look at his works, an interesting artist. I'll check him out further.
Fi, thank you. After a week of good weather, there's a storm breaking in UK this weekend, Storm Freya so I had that in mind I think. It's A4 landscape. I've never done any print-making but as you say this might be worth developing into a larger work.

    1. ERic was a long time correspondent of ours from the 80's to mid 90's when sadly he passed away. He taught printing at Chelsea School of Art I think and his long rambling letters were filled with tales of his experiments with print - both analogue and digital. He also made weird computer generated music !
