I can do one better...I am older than you and had BIG HAIR back in the late 1960s! It involved a hairpiece called a "wiglet" and tons of back-combing and hairspray. The final result felt like that spun sugar on a paper cone known in the States as "Cotton Candy".
Very funny! I confess I was a secret follower of this cult when there was a revival in the 80's.

DeleteHa ha! I was fond of the "big hair" fashion of the 70's. Didn't quite pile it up so high though - it mostly went outwards!
