Time Travel

The problem with time travel is you have no idea  where you will land as Derek found out when he got stuck in the fountain.

Happy New Year everyone…enjoyed all the themes this year…here’s to many more .

Just realised I missed a trick…he should be holding a light bulb!

Time travel

Watching a good film is a bit like time travel….

Time Travel - Time Machine

THEME: Time Travel

As the year 2023 comes to a close, I am thinking about a New Year and hopefully better days ahead of us all. Peace. Less climate disaster. Unity. Forgiveness. Cooperation. Kindness. Love. Breakthroughs in the medical field. The end of political corruption. And on and on...sigh...I can dream, can't I? So, let's think about Time Travel. Back to a period of personal interest? Ahead to the Utopia I desire? Or an image of someone who put the wrong coordinates into a Time Machine and found themselves in a confounding situation! Have fun and HAPPY NEW YEAR!!

HOLIDAY HAPPENINGS -- "Santa Baby..."

I could not believe this image, which I happened upon in a vintage magazine advertising diamonds.
I then found a festive background to glue it to and Voila!
The models and Santa Baby were originally posed against a white background in the advert.

Holiday Happenings - Merry Xmas!

One from the archives as we are rather busy this week. Archie is home fro a few days - Granma is 90 today - something called Xmas is happening - it's all GO ! All the best festive wishes to one and all!

Created from one book: The world we live in

This wonderful book is the Dutch version of "The world we live in" by Lincoln Barnett.
First published in 1955. It was a challenge for me to make a collage from it,
because there are no images of humans in the book!

Created from one magazine -- "Surrender"

My thoughts about this one (story I've made up):

Weary fashion editor surrenders to sleep after a whirlwind Fashion Week Paris stint.

OOOPS I forgot to include a photo of the source:

A recent copy of The Wall Street Journal Magazine which I already put in the recycling bin outside.

One Source - The Cook

From a small book I have used a couple of times for clippings. Published by Macmillan Education.1974.

I’ve Lost my Little Willy.

Just realised you have to be careful which slot you post your letter in..haha…

Been wondering what to do with the book for a while…

One Source - Fred And Wilma's Xmas Party

My sorace book is the Taschen published "Bizarro Postcards" which I have been clipping bits from for a while now. It has some fun pictures in - some more bizarre than others!

(G)LAMOUR on the Road to a Dip in Her Swimming Pool

I must say when I was mulling over this challenge I did think about glamorous Dorothy Lamour's surname. So I found a photo of her and a painting that contained a road and a couple of well groomed dogs a movie star might have hanging around their fabulous estate.

Now, look at this (HAPPY BIRTHDAY DOROTHY !):

Mary Leta Dorothy Slaton[ was born on December 10, 1914, at Charity ward at New Orleans East Hospital in Louisiana, the daughter of Carmen Louise (née LaPorte) and John Watson Slaton, both of whom were restaurant servers. Lamour was of Spanish with some English, French and possibly also distant Irish descent. Her parents' marriage lasted only a few years. Her mother married for the second time to Clarence Lambour, whose surname Dorothy later adopted and modified as her stage name.

 And there you have it!

glamour: Wild Glam Rockers

From the Archive.

Glamour.

Michael usually passes on books to me that he has already snipped for collage material..

This book must have been used for all the glamorous lips…

So I have just layered the pages to repair the faces…and make me chuckle.

Public Display of Affection

Even in war time the offering of a rose was an important gesture of affection.

The Centre Aisle of Aldi

 Happy Thanks Giving…

Not sure if this happens in America ..but there is a supermarket called Aldi where they have a central aisle which has all manner of odd things for sale..from fluffy socks to gardening tools and everything in between…you go in for eggs and milk and come out with a set of extending ladders and a quilting kit.

Pretty sure I have seen an electric blanket egg cooker too!..I might have imagined that one.

Not sure if this lady has a mop on her head…..they would sell them too.

At The Supermarket - Nowhere Town

Not really a supermarket but a small charity shop - the sort I like to frequent. This is from the archives - originally proposed as the sleeve of a CD for a music project that never really got off the ground which was a shame as the songs and ideas seemed top notch. Like so many online projects it remains on the back burner which getting mighty crowded!

THEME: At the Supermarket

It is, after all, Thanksgiving in the States and I have had plenty of trips to the supermarket. So I guess it is on my mind.

Collage a trip you may make and what you will find!

ARCHITECTURE: "Front View of the Castle"

Okay, I realize I am setting up some interesting remarks with this collage. Ha ha.

I found a page in a book entitled LANCUT on which someone had written the words "Front View of the Castle". The book is written in Polish.  LANCUT is pronounced Wine-tsoot -- I am not kidding.

Anyway, the architecture is the 17th Century Lancut castle. Lancut is in the Polish part of East Galicia in the outskirts of Rzeszow.

By the way, the model is wearing an avant garde kimono which I found in a late 1960s art magazine. I cannot remember the name of the designer as I cut out the image a couple of weeks ago and the caption is lost.
