Pythagoras of Samos (c. 570 B.C.) was a Greek philosopher and mathematician who made significant contributions to astronomy, geometry, music theory, and mathematics. He's best known for the Pythagorean Theorem, which states that in a right triangle, the square of the hypotenuse equals the sum of the squares of the other two sides. The formula is used in construction and to measure space and distance. Whoooosh! -- Again over my head!! ha ha
