Ah the joys and the perils of living under canvas! I went camping a couple of times when I was young but it seemed a very perilous occupation - the weather was usually rotten so you were awake most of the night with the rain battering the tent flaps and the wind howling round the fly sheet. Triping over tent pegs and guy ropes! No wonder a cosy B&B seemed a better option! Anyway, have fun!

ReplyDeleteI went camping ONCE ... and it was a disaster! In a borrowed tent (that smelled bad) my husband and I were kept awake at a campground near the Mississippi River by chilly driving rain and drunken people walking past our tent (which had some plastic novelty garden ornaments I had brought along for fun -- set outside the tent -- and they were commenting loudly about those). We soon decided our Toyota station wagon would be a better place to get some shut eye and at around 2 a.m. grabbed our pillows and a blanket and retreated to the car. A night to remember!
DeleteI tried camping one night in the garden with Archie... Heard a huge snuffling animal outside the tent.. It turned out to be a tiny hedgehog.... Hardly slept and never did it again.. That's what hotels are for!!!
DeleteI am sure Archie didn't mind LOL! And I hear you about hotels. Coffee at hand upon awakening and a ready toilet (in case you need one in the middle of the night)...oh, I could go on and on...
