Background is comprised of a photo of oil barrels and a painting by Ron Cohen. The elderly nude is from
Alice Neel's fabulous "Nude Self-Portrait" (1980), which hangs in the National Portrait Gallery, Washington, D.C. Gilbert & George are a British artist duo whose works often include photos of them in suits & ties.
Lovely! I was lucky enough to see Gilbert & George once in an art gallery in Chelsea when I was a student back in the dark ages. they were doing their infamous "Underneath The Arches" routine on top of a table with their faces painted silver.
ReplyDeleteLucky indeed! I think they're very cool.
DeleteWonderful collection of images. (And I happen to adore Alice Neel's work.)
ReplyDeleteGreat images, Fi, and an absolutely fabulous title!
ReplyDeleteI love how everything seems to be emerging from the background, all seemingly orchestrated by a nude Alice Neel.
ReplyDeleteExcellent. Nicely composed and strong colours.
ReplyDeleteThanks—I really appreciate how articulate you guys are!
