When Cynthia & Her Mom Were Down in the Dumps They Would Go To the Fabric Shop and Spend Hours Stroking Fabric
Now that's a cheery thing to do! Background from a favorite book to use for collage called "Swatches". The two fabric strokers cut from some 1950s magazine.
When I was a teenager and was making all my own clothes, I used to go in fabric stores even when I had no money, just to look, and especially, to touch, the fabrics...great collage, Angie!
I too was a teen making her own frocks and I had an obsession with corduroy, especially wide wale. I was fascinated how the direction of the nap would change the shade of the fabric. I also liked when our clothing teacher told us that the word meant "cloth of the king"!
Me three in the fabric stores, ladies. I made the weirdest dresses (strange colors, goofy buttons). I looked somewhat like a swatch book, I think. Your collage sparks good memories for us, CC!
He he! What a great idea! Not sure this would cure me of the blues but glad it helps some people!
ReplyDeleteLove it! So glad to see something blue without this depressive feeling - uff! Thanks, CC!
ReplyDeleteThanks both. My original title was kind of negative and I changed it so I am glad I did!
ReplyDeleteBy the way I Googled the words 'Stroking Fabric' and up came a few entries re: this compulsion!
