This one isn't about the blues—just me playing around with some of the blue pieces I pulled when Michael announced this week's theme. In an ideal world the big rectangle with the fish wouldn't be tipped: that's what I get for aligning it by eye instead of measuring.
The title is from William James, something that popped into my head while I was working on this.
The girl is from a photograph by Jonathan Torgovnik.
I have a question, y'all. Often when I post collages that have magazine clippings in them, there's a screen artifact: you can see it to the right of the fish. And yet the same image, posted to Flickr, doesn't have that artifact: see here.. Have any of you noticed this problem with posting to blogspot?
ReplyDeleteThat's interesting Fi. You scan your images, right? Then do you do adjustments to them (like enhancing, correcting colors or sharpening the image, etc. with photoshop)? If I overdo some adjustments I have the issue of moire patterns.
DeleteI found this online and it may be of interest to you:
How To Remove Moire Patterns From Scanned Photos in Photoshop and Elements

The one thing I cannot answer is why Flickr doesn't display the moire patterns but blogspot does.
Thanks for the link, Angie. The problem is, I don't see the moiré pattern until I upload it to blogspot. And the fact that it doesn't show up on Flickr....oh well....
DeleteHello Fi, love your blue collage! Is the domino paper made of Ebru-technique (a special turkish way to marble)? Nice piece!
ReplyDeleteI didn´t notice your mentioned problem - but I do after reading your question. Sorry - but I have no idea for a solution. I´m gooing to ask my "personal supporter and facilitater" later on.
Thanks, Sabine! I don't know what technique the marbled paper is, only that it is handmade and from somewhere in Asia (Thailand I think).
DeleteI get it with newspaper pieces and things from older national geographics, have no idea how to get rid of it. If it's too bad, I re-scan at a lower resolution (200 dpi instead of 300), so maybe the discrepancy is due to resolution differences...actually, I haven't the slightest idea. BUT, I do know I like this collage, and particularly like the marbled background behind the script piece. Nice job, Fi.
ReplyDeleteMorning! As promissed: I asked J.! He believes that it´s a problem of blogspot and the way how blogspot display images. CC´s link decribes one of a good way to eliminate Moire but you loose image-details. J.´s suggestion is to create a file only for blogspot and beside blogspot you should use the original one. Greetings - from J. and me.
ReplyDeleteThanks for finding that out, Sabine. That's kind of what I suspected was the case...oh well....=shrug=
