Apparently, many of the black and white Ernst pieces come from his 5 volume book, "Une Semaine De
Bonte" (A Week of Kindness), 1934. These collages are mysterious, they have no titles, and there is no text. Here's my moment of untitled creepy kindness. It's a little scifi, and little anatomy, and a little Dore, in homage to Max.
I caught a glimpse of the "Week of Kindness" - your collage fits in this series very well! It´s an eerie scene and image!
ReplyDeleteExcellent work! I'm sure Max would approve!
ReplyDeleteExceptional Lynn! I am learning a lot about Max Ernst through this challenge.
ReplyDeleteWonderful stuff: the guy with the leaves (?) swirling around him is the perfect touch...
ReplyDeleteThanks, everyone. The plant guy is from a fabulous pulp scifi illustrator named Hannes Bok, whom Ray Bradbury called "one of the best, yet least known, fantasy artists and illustrators of our time." Nobody had much use for him while he was alive and working, but he truly is wonderful.
