Whoa...I can really see why you've cherished that image, Angie: the old bearded merman is a compelling figure. I like what you did with the color, changing it from black and cream to brown and rose...and the undersaturated colors of the fish are just perfect. A hundred fathoms deep....that's pretty far down!
Now I must confess that I did not alter the background of the piece. After I cut the image down, eliminating the composers, etc., I was sorry I did not make a copy of the cover as it originally appeared. I found the non-embellished cover on the internet and it happens to more pale in color than the music I own.
