The Kollage Kit (banner)

Postcard Sandwich

Sliced up one of my abstract postcards into three sections and over did it a bit - too long fro the scanner! Doh! Anyway, you get the idea. I will follow my own instructions more carefully next time!

Golden Slumbers

This weeks theme(s) : 1. Abstract Plus (figurative)

Yes this week there are two themes.
I sometimes like to 'chew' a bit longer on a subject, so theme 1 is 'Abstract' plus whatever you feel like ... try to take your abstract to a higher level and if you use figurative elements try to make them an integrated part of your abstract.
Feel free to use the abstracts from last week, or make new ones.

And for those who are fed up with the abstracts there is
Theme of the week: 2  Make a Banner

I know this was a theme about 2 years ago but than I wasn't around and couldn't be part of it.
So make a banner for Kollage Kit (so Michael has something to choose from if he want's to change every now and than) or just any banner you like.
I'm not sure about the measurements so if someone can help me out? I thought 2 by 12 Inches,
that's 4cm by 30 cm, please correct me if I'm wrong.

Have fun!

Good Fortune

This is not what I set out to do but I like it a lot.  All elements pasted down on a book cover.  The bluebird is from a vintage Valentine.

A most peculiar abstract

The background text is an endpaper of an art book, these are all signatures of artists. The grey paper is a paper I often use for stenciling so that has a lot of paint and behind the holes I glued part of a figure (for its color).

orange squiggles

For once, I don't have anything to say—about the collage, that is. =grin= But I do want to thank y'all for the warm "welcome back" messages. I still can't climb the stairs to my studio in the normal fashion, but I can crawl up on my hands and knees.

zig-zag

I'm definitely planning on making one or more new abstracts this week, but I thought I'd kick things off with a piece from my archives.

Background polygons from magazine & catalog clippings. Central zig-zag from real (not facsimile) mid-19th-century ledger paper. Thanks to the influence of composer John Cage, I let chance determine the locations of the black painted lines: their positions are pairs of integers in sequence from a random number generator.

This Week's Theme: 'Abstract'

This is way out of my comfort zone, so that's why I want to give it a try.
Think form, shape, color, texture, pattern, composition.
Perhaps you can make a beautiful background for future collages.
Get inspired by Kurt Schwitters or Rex Ray or just google 'abstract' collages.
Have fun!

Ground Control to Major Tom

I am reorganizing my bookshelf - therefore my desk is so overcrowded with my books that I can not do one single collage at the moment... so I have to show one from the archives!

I Am Your Queen Bitch, Your Hot Tramp, Your China Girl...

The background is "Young Tree" (Chloranthemum), 1932 by Paul Klee.  The woman was removed from a book about the art of the pin-up girl.  The basket of roses on her head is a circa 1870 albumen print I found in an auction catalog.

This week's Theme: "David Robert Jones, the boy from Brixton"

I'm sure we all have our memories.
Feel free to paint, draw and mix media as well.
