Lovely portrait by Frida Kahlo (1907-1954) entitled "Portrait of
Woman in White" circa 1930. Scarf around her neck cut from a J. Peterman
catalogue. Peacock is from a "how to paint birds" book. Background is
from my trusty book called "Swatches" which has page after page of
photographs of beautiful textiles.
Ooooooo... multiple indigos are arriving in my eyeballs! I like the way you used more than one image to communicate the color of indigo blue.
ReplyDelete....and by the way, great snipping on that scarf!

DeleteI read that the portrait was unfinished. It has been speculated that the sitter was Frida's lover and their relationship ended before Frida finished the painting.
