I'll admit it: this collage did double duty as an entry for the Kollage Kit blog and a postcard for the swap-bot swap "Burnt Mail Art." I thought y'all might appreciate the vintage stamps & artistamps & a little "postoid", plus my penchant for glueing leftover collage elements on the other side. =grin=
I just love your mail art! I especially like your style of printing.
ReplyDeleteI actually invented, more or less from scratch, that style of printing, about five years ago. I wanted something that was artsy-looking and legible, but above all, compact, because postcards don't have the space on them for the sprawling style—very horizontal, albeit fun because I do it with an italic-nibbed fountain pen—'ve used since age 20. I save that style for letters on big pads of paper. All you have to do is pick up a calligraphy book that has lots of fonts in it (as opposed to the ones that focus on how to hold a dip pen), then experiment until you come up with something you like. It's worth the effort, believe me, because before you know it, you'll have a new handwritting font that can be sized up or down depending on how much you want to say, how much space you have, and the width of your marker or pen nib.
