Inspired by 1965 Sci-Fi Noir film Alphaville.
The couple: Eddie Constantine as Lemmy Caution
Anna Karina as Natacha von Braun
Lemmy Caution, an American private-eye, arrives in Alphaville, a futuristic city on another planet. His very American character is at odds with the city's ruler, an evil scientist named
Von Braun, who has outlawed love and self-expression.

Nice one Ron. A film I haven't seen I must admit. Maybe it will turn up at a charity shop or boot fair one day. I am always surprised at what turns up - the other day I found The Valley, a French film with Pink Floyd soundtrack and Zabriske Point by Michaelangelo Antonio.
ReplyDeleteGreat film, and a great collage that sums up the stark look of Alphaville.
ReplyDeleteAnd everytime I look at this again, I 'misread' Lemmy Caution's turned-up raincoat collar as being Anna Karenina's hand wrapped dangerously round his neck, especially as she's got that mean look on her face!
I do not know this film and it sounds intriguing. As is your collage, Ron. "A glance, a word..."
ReplyDeleteStriking composition! Believe it or not, my high school rented a copy of this film and showed it to the whole school in the auditorium, in the year 1970. It was meant to be an exposure to high-quality filmmaking... and it worked.
ReplyDeleteThanks all. Yes, a highly recommended movie, there's a few clips on the YouTube for a taster or reappraisal.
ReplyDeleteI liked Zabriskie Point Michael but I hadn't heard of The Valley before.
