Eyes are said to be the window to the soul and I think these framed eyes are indeed more than reflections of the lookers into the mirrors (which is how I am interpreting the framed amorous gazes).
Yes, it's true, but, at the time the article was written, in 1983, the author said that that was ALL they did, and didn't help with any of the manual work etc, which was all left to the women! I don't know what it's like like now though, of course a lot can change in 36 years!
Thank you Michael, actually the find was all down to you, with your collage from a few months ago, where you mentioned the National Geographic as being a great source of raw collage material to work with... After that, I started paying more attention to them when I saw them in charity shops, and this is one of the results! :)
Thank you Fi, yes, the frames were a last minute find at the bottom of my Kollage Corn Flakes box, where all my stuff is thrown in randomly, and then raked through in a panic on Thursday evenings or sometime soon afterwards!

ReplyDeleteAha, that's funny because I hadn't thought of the frames as being mirrors, but of course now you've said it, yes they could well be!
DeleteThe Taboo know how it works - here the men make themselves beautiful to convince the women!
