Thanks Sabine! I put two and two together about this week's theme when I realized my niece had traveled to New Orleans for Mardi Gras and so I was determined to make my collage about that event!
I was thinking the same about the Venetian carnival. It's nice to look at the different names there are with these festivities. Here we call it 'vastenavond', thats the day before ash wednesday.. I remember (as a young catholic girl) we always got this cross on our foreheads .. ashes to ashes, dust to dust. What a lovely parade Angie!
Ahhhh...I fondly remember the wearing of the ashes. I never liked it much when the priest had a heavy hand and I had a large smear on my forehead. Thanks for the compliment on collage. I just picked up a vintage book of dolls and that is what inspired me. (Peacock came from a magazine recently delivered to the house.)
What a magnificent peacock - the dolls are fitting very well to it. Could also be a good group for Venetian carnival!
