"Olive Thomas, The Lonely Flower" Rollage

Olive Thomas (1894-1920) was an American silent film actress & model. She is placed on top of "The Lonely Flower" 1934, a piece by Paul Klee (1879-1940).

  1. Had to check out who Olive Thomas was - seems that she really was a lonely flower although she was such a popular actress - dying of can overdose mercury - which she has taken by chance (so the German Wikipedia says). So - the "broken" rollage image fits to her biography.

    1. From Wikipedia:
On September 10, 1920, Thomas died of acute nephritis in Paris five days after consuming mercury bichloride. Although her death was ruled accidental, news of her hospitalization due to the poison and Thomas' subsequent death were the subject of media speculation. Thomas' death has been cited as one of the first heavily publicized Hollywood scandals.
