I remember The Human League, but I don't remember this song. "Don't You Want Me" is all I can think of...I loved that song. That kid is certainly into them, however.
Love it! The whole DIY-homemade-synth-from-electronics-magazines scene, and the joy of hearing that sound, and how it plugged straight into the youth Meccano mindset, all in grimy fanzine black-and-white too, great!
Well done! Great electronic devices & diagram, the ecstatic kid with his Erectoset (American word for those things). A real sense of strange music, even if I don't know the Human League very well...
I think that's a bit of serendipity at work Steve with the diagram....just listened to that Holger track and it's a cracker. Link here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a8fVOoGnQnk
And a link to the excellent Synth Britannia BBC 2012 Documentary covering Human League & More... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TK1P93r9xes
Aha, seems to be a lot of serendipity going on with this weeks' theme, which can only be a good thing!
Yes the Holger Czukay thing is beautiful isn't it, and used to great effect in the film version of 'Morvern Callar' too - 1:07 onwards: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H0cwmQcsdnM

ReplyDeletePS is the diagram in the top right a reference to "On The Way to the Peak of Normal" by Holger Czukay, or is that just me reading too much into it? :)
